The glow-up brought added attractions and venues found on newer Carnival vessels. This is a good ship to be sober on, because you’ll rarely – if ever – be asked if you want a drink, and even then, only on the pool deck. There are no servers roaming around the ship’s other bars and lounges soliciting drinks like “the old days”. Instead, if you want a libation, be prepared to fight your way through the crowd to one of the bartenders behind the bar. Speaking of amenities, make sure you understand what you'll get as part of your fare and which extras will come with an additional cost.

What’s the Best Carnival Cruise Ship for Couples?

While the show wasn’t bad, it doesn’t compare to the caliber of productions on Royal Caribbean or even Norwegian Cruise Line. Though, the benefit for families is that these shows are shorter at about 35 minutes. For lunch, I did a burrito bowl from BlueIguana and Don did a burger from Guy’s Burger Joint. In retrospect, we should have skipped lunch today as we didn’t realize we’d be preparing….and eating…a full meal at Carnival Kitchen. Yet, our captain was able to safely get the ship pier-side as did Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas. Norwegian Joy and Carnival Breeze were not so lucky though.

Special Mentions – Carnival Jubilee & Carnival Firenze

Expect a lot of large groups and families on this ship, but you won’t feel crowded either. This is good, because her downsides tend to be West Coast US itineraries that are a little less exciting than those in other destinations. Choose Carnival Miracle if you want a bit of fun, a bit of relaxation, and some decent food. In fact on average scores, the worst ship on the list scored a 3.2 out of 5 – that’s still pretty good. Because I know that they are independent, and they have enough reviews that one or two unfair ones won’t skew the scores too much.

Carnival Jubilee 2024 Review + Cruise News

For those looking for a little adventure, there’s the Ultimate Playground zone. This area of the ship features one of the best attractions at sea, Bolt. This electric rollercoaster at the top of the ship is certainly a thrilling experience, albeit an up-charge activity. Cruisers can also enjoy a ropes course, Carnival Waterworks with 3 slides, and mini-golf which are all complimentary.

Carry-on drinks policy

The laundrettes also have vending machines stocked with small boxes of detergent and fabric softener at $1.50 per box. While cigarette smoking is allowed in the casino, according to Carnival's website, you must be seated and playing to smoke in the casino. Smoking is permitted in designated areas on Deck 3 (port side, forward) and Deck 10 (starboard side, midship). On Carnival Sunshine, smoking (including electronic cigarettes) is only allowed in designated outdoor areas and in the casino. You can bring one bottle of wine or Champagne (per person) onto the ship at boarding, as well as up to a dozen standard cans or cartons of nonalcoholic drinks such as sodas. Throughout 2024, Carnival Sunshine will sail year-round four-, five-, six- and eight-night Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean voyages from Charleston.

Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, notably, has its very own in-house brewery you can see behind glass walls — something still relatively rare on cruise ships. It makes house beers including Parched Pig West Coast IPA and Parched Pig Toasted Amber which you'll find on many Carnival vessels in kegs and cans. Carnival is the only cruise line to keg and can its own beer. Other extra-charge eateries often found on Carnival vessels include Bonsai, an a la carte sushi restaurant (now on 14 ships), and JiJi Asian Kitchen, which costs $24 per person (now on four ships). This is a notable change for the brand from just a couple of decades ago. There was a time when Carnival operated some of the biggest cruise ships in the world.

The Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are the ships with the best collection of water slides, including Blue Lightning (312 feet), Orange Thunder (229 feet) and Carnival Twister (265 feet). The best individual waterslide is Kaleid-O-Slide (445 feet) on Carnival Panorama. Carnival Luminosa is considered to be a hybrid of the Spirit Class and the Vista Class.

Couldn't wait to get off that ship.how could it be right to have Ppl sleeping in that smelly place. Music when good.buffet was ok.but God damn.that speciality restaurant so disgusting.very unhappy customer. A seven-night Western Caribbean cruise review of Carnival Jubilee. We use dedicated people and clever technology to safeguard our platform.

So, make sure to show up extremely early if you even want a chance at securing prime seats. In main theater, the Playlist Productions are Amor Cubano and Color My World. Each production occurred on two different evenings, with a total of 3 showtimes.

The Carnival Breeze seems to sum up everything that’s great about cruising with Carnival, and yet at the same time highlights some of the major drawbacks of the cruise line too. By taking an average of the scores across all three sites, I’ve been able to get the ships into a relative order. After all, I’ve been on a lot of cruises, but I’ve not sailed on every Carnival ship.

Designed to be quick and digestible, they typically last around 30 minutes and have relatively small casts (just eight on some ships). The overarching idea for Carnival's ship deployments is that a large percentage of the U.S. population can reach one of the line's ships by car, saving the cost of flights. However, with two exceptions, they're not giants by today's standards. Carnival ships are all about fun in a very laid-back, unpretentious, nothing-too-fancy sort of way.

Chibang and Cucina del Capitano are both open for lunch on sea days with a reduced menu. Cucina del Capitano has a few apps and entrees along with pasta bar. Chibang’s menu features Asian noodle bowls and Mexican rice bowls.

We have cruised many times with Carnival and have loved it but NEVER AGAIN. From here, the fun continued on the lido deck with the 80’s Glow Party. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again–Carnival cruisers go all out for these parties, so be sure to pack your 80’s attire for the event.

Deck flooded people were in pool and ship tilted and all water came out. After a rude interaction with a customer service agent, who hung up on me when I asked his name, I received a form letter apology today saying he is "receiving training".But also... They can not "locate" the staff member who had been assisting me with requests over the past 2 months. Needless to say, it was a bulls£1t apology and I don't believe a word.

The cost is $24 (per person) for adults and $6 (per person) for kids aged 11 and under — a great price for a fantastic meal. The suites come with varied perks, which can include priority check-in and boarding, as well as priority disembarkation on the final morning of your trip. Our cabin's TV was installed on the wall to the left of the desk mirror. Unfortunately, the wall came out a bit to the left of the TV, which made it impossible to swivel the TV to the left and view it from the bed. It had about 10 channels of news, movies and children's programming, and several Carnival-sponsored channels. Similarly, since rough seas canceled the tech rehearsal, the "Epic Rock" production on the second night became an "unplugged" version with performers singing from stools on stage.

The suggested attire for women on such nights is cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses. If you don't want to dress up, you can choose a more casual dinner venue, but dress code enforcement in Carnival dining rooms tends to be lax. There is no specific dress code during the day on Sunshine, so people dress casually. Beach attire is the norm for sea days, and if you plan to spend your day on the top deck, plan to dress in T-shirts, shorts and bathing suits (with a cover-up to go inside). When it comes to for-fee specialty restaurants aboard Carnival Celebration, Carnival pulled out all the stops. Carnival Celebration also sports some unique theme cabins.
